Artist statement:
With this project I played with the title a bit. Drawing on objects. So utilizing my feminist values and my deep love of exotic body art, I came up with this project. I designed all the designs myself, because they represented who I was. There are few beliefs out there in the world that see the women's body in the same regard as an object. There are examples of our culture where there is objectification of it, and how everyone must have the "perfect body". With this, not only did I use my body, I felt better about the way that I looked. In some moments I did feel self-conscious about this decision, but that was only once, throughout the entire time the henna stayed on my body. Overall, I wanted to relay the information that my body is my own, and I do as I wish with it.
